Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is a treatment modality intended to help clients reduce the struggle to control or eliminate unwanted emotions, thoughts, sensations, urges, or memories, and increase their participation in meaningful, life-enhancing activities. In ACT sessions, clients will learn how to accept what is beyond their control, change their relationship with painful thoughts and emotions, clarify values important to them, and commit to improving their lives.
ACT can be used to help clients struggling with:
- Chronic Pain
- Eating Disorders
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) & Trauma
